My farm is of about 50 acres, situated close to Ojhar village and just about a kilometer off the NH3 (Bombay Agra National Highway).

I primarily grow table grapes varieties Autumn Seedless, Flame Seedless, Thompson Seedless, Clone 2A, and some Black Grapes. I also produce some wine varieties like Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. Besides this I also grow Pomegranates in 4 acres, wheat and soyabean in 4 acres, sugarcane in 2 acres, some vegetables like bottlegourd, bittergourd or similar in 2 acres. Sales of my produce is done locally in APMC (Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee - Auction) or to the local traders. I send some of my Grapes to Delhi and Baroda market commission agents to be sold there. More often than not, the prices I get after all deductions are equal to less than half of what the consumer pays for. My family has been doing farming here for many generations. My children are not keen to pursue farming as a career. Profit margins are dropping due to ever increasing farm input costs, including labour charges. Still, hoping for better days ahead..!
